DRIFTWOOD QUARTERLY Vol. I. No. II. Release & Spring Concert
March 29th, 2011 § Leave a Comment
The Driftwood Quarterly Vol. I. No. II. Summer issue will be released on Sunday, April 17.
To celebrate we are hosting a Spring Concert in the King’s College Chapel at 8:00 o’clock with a reception to follow in the Senior Common Room.
The concert will include a blend of traditional folk and classical influences, from the traditional folk songs of Ivy Mairi, to the cello Sonatas of Bach played on double bass by Calum MacLeod (and don’t be surprised if you hear some overtones arise from his vocal chords as well). The Chapel will be lit by home-made beeswax candles, the music will be unplugged and intimate. The choral music of John Dowland and Henry Purcell will be sung by the Driftwood Consort; the ballads of Child sung by Sean Donald; the poetry of Joe McLeod read by granddaughter Bryn. R. McLeod, & special surprises emerging from beyond.
Not only is admission free, but the evening will be accompanied by a special programme packed with lyrics and songs, so don’t miss this chance to celebrate the magic of spring with the Driftwood & Co. and take home a wealth of traditional know-hows and song!
…
The new issue of the Driftwood Quarterly will be available for pay-what-you-can, suggested $5.
Also available will be back issues of The Driftwood Quarterly Vol. I. No. I. for suggested $10, scrimshaw and a new EP by Sean Donald, home baked goods, home brewed goods, and of course, a chance to meet the authors and musicians involved in the making of the Driftwood.
